OPTU has officially obtained its affiliation membership certificate from the Mercosur Accreditation Agency (MACCA), a strategic partner of QAHE. As a leading institution in accreditation, MACCA upholds rigorous quality benchmarks for higher education. In terms of becoming a member, OPTU reaffirms its pursuit of continuous improvement, international recognition, and enhanced academic credibility. This affiliation also paves the way for greater opportunities in global collaboration and quality assurance. Mercosur Accreditation Agency (MACCA)
MACCA (Mercosur Accreditation Agency) is a private entity specialized in institutional and programmatic accreditation for higher education, with a focus on Quality Assurance (QA).
Headquartered in the Federative Republic of Brazil, MACCA is registered under CNPJ No. 33.328.861/0001-52 and certified by ISO 9001:2015, standing out for its international presence and commitment to high standards of academic quality. The agency maintains strategic partnerships with several international accreditation organizations and is double accredited by renowned institutions such as GAFM/AAPM, ABED, BSKG, CACEB, NACEC, IARC, EDU.Int, and ELQN, in addition to being recognized by other prestigious global agencies.
MACCA currently has a Dual Accreditation agreement with IARC, an organization recognized by the Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan, which makes our accreditation an intercontinental accreditation action.
MACCA is sponsored by the Faculty of Medical and Legal Sciences (FACMED), accredited by the following government decrees: Decree No. 2,701 of 14/03/2006, Reaccredited by Decree No. 4,327 of 29/06/2011, and Decree No. 3,418 of 07/07/2011. FACMED is also listed in the UNESCO WHED Database under the code IAU023411. In addition, MACCA has a letter of recommendation issued by a Brazilian parliamentary commission (federal government), reinforcing its status as an institution publicly recognized for its reliability and quality. In Brazil, MACCA is a strategic partner of ABED (Brazilian Distance Education Association), an entity linked to the National Education Forum, established by Ordinance No. 1,407 of the Ministry of Education, dated December 14, 2010, and published in the Official Gazette of the Union on December 16, 2010. ABED is also recognized by the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE). In addition, MACCA has the expertise of Dr. George Mentz, a renowned international jurist and former White House Education Commissioner (USA), as its strategic consultant, further increasing its international credibility.
